Dates for candidate filings are March 1 for the Clifton Independent School Board and March 4 for Clifton City Council with elections on April 1 and April 4 respectively. Incumbents Leo Albrecht a L Standefer Jr and T C Eggen may seek re election while other council members have terms ending this year. School board terms expiring include Joseph Solberg Raymond Lammert and G E Jimmy Jackson who plans to seek re election. County school board filings close March 4 with elections April 4. Frances Louella Raley aged 82 of Valley Mills died February 2 at her home. She was mother to Mrs. Chris Strand and Mrs. J M Jorgenson of Clifton and had three sons, three daughters, a sister, and several grandchildren. Funeral February 3 at First Methodist Church Valley Mills with burial at Valley Mills Cemetery.

Obituary for Jack L. Wilson: Clifton businessman dies at 46
Funeral services were held at First Methodist Church Clifton for Jack L. Wilson 46 president of Wilson Building Material Company born August 5 1913 in Lincoln Nebraska. A World War II veteran he later built a lumber and molding business with operations in Clifton Valley Mills and Love Wood Products affecting up to 90 employees. He died January 28 at Scott and White Hospital Temple after a six hour eye operation followed by a heart attack. He is survived by his wife Essie Rexrode and other relatives.
