Predator control plans to be made this Tuesday
Final plans for new predator control measures will be made at 8 a.m. Tuesday in the district courtroom of the county courthouse in Meridian. Landowners are asked to sign agreements and bring them to the meeting or submit them to the county commissioners. Troubleshooters from the Texas Animal Damage Control Association will attend to work out the schedule.

Arrest in Valley Mills on drugs and weapon charges
An adult male was arrested in Valley Mills Saturday night on marijuana and weapon charges. Gerald Baker of Clifton with the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol took the man into custody at 10:50 p.m. He was charged with carrying a prohibited weapon and possession of more than two ounces of marijuana. He appeared before Judge W. R. Lively for bond and disposition of the two counts.

CHS Stageband Earns I Rating At White Settlement Contest

Four grass fires in a week kept the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department busy. Responders tackled blazes at the J. B. Wood property on Friday and Saturday, at David Dahl’s Womack property on Monday, and another on Old Mill Rd. A pickup fire in a barn at Thompson Turkey Hatchery on Sunday left the structure totally damaged.

Two thieves used by the band were taken in a break at Clifton High School Thursday night. Police Chief Alvin James said a window was broken to gain entry. Two adults were arrested on misdemeanor charges in the past week. One man was arrested at 11 50 p m Thursday for speeding and driving without a license. fined before Judge W R Lively.
