Bosque County 4H members continued winning at the Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show in Fort Worth. Results include Derril Wenzel and Glenn Hanson winning in carcass and on hoof classes with Hereford and Shorthorn steers, plus placings for junior and senior heifers. The group earned Herdsman and exhibit prizes and attended the Rural Youth Banquet. Julian C. Bronstad aged 72 years 1 month 6 days died February 3 in Clifton after a week in the local hospital. Born December 26 1891 he lived in Norse Cranfills Gap and Clifton areas. He was a farmer and violinist with deep family ties and six children.

Poll Tax Payments Reach 2 794 And 29 Candidates File
Bosque County citizens pay poll taxes totaling 2794 for 1964. Tax assessor-collector Earl R. Behringer notes 63 first year eligible voters received exemption certificates and many over 60 are not required to pay. Registration for a free vote begins February 5 and runs to March 6 1964. Free registration permits voting only the presidential US Senate and Congressional candidates, while poll tax payers vote the full ballot.

Huse Conviction Upheld By Court of Criminal Appeals
The Court of Criminal Appeals in Austin upheld the murder conviction of Morris O. Huse of Cranfills Gap. He was sentenced to five years for the rifle death of W. H. Payne on November 26, 1962, after a Bosque County jury verdict. Huse had sought new evidence to overturn the verdict. Mr. and Mrs. John Stoughton of Fort Worth visited Cranfills Gap Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Kuykendall.

World Day of Prayer Service Planned at Clifton First Methodist
The World Day of Prayer program will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday February 14 at the Clifton First Methodist Church inviting all churches and individuals to attend and participate. The event, observed the first Friday in Lent, focuses on prayer and giving for global missions with services used in about 150 countries. Bosque Soil District Enters 1965 Goodyear Competition
Bosque Soil and Water Conservation District enters the 18th annual Goodyear competition to select the nation’s top 52 districts. Judges will pick Texas winner based on 1964 soil conservation efforts. Grand prize is an expenses-paid work-study trip to Arizona in December 1965 for one district official and one outstanding farmer cooperator from each winning district.

Larsen Visit to Clifton Ties Family Across States
George Larsen of Lockport Michigan arrived in Clifton on Saturday January 25 to visit his mother Mrs Inez Larsen brother in law and sister Mr and Mrs Raymond H Rogstad and aunt Mrs E A Henry. The next day Mrs Henry took him to Port Arthur for a Texaco Inc meeting and she visited relatives. They returned to Clifton last Saturday and Mr Larsen left for home on Sunday.
