New Areas Exempted From Brownout Order
The War Production Board on Saturday exempted five areas including the Pacific Northwest and most of Texas from the outdoor light brownout starting February 1. Exemption aims to keep coal and fuels in use. Texas remains largely exempt except for 118 counties served by Southwestern Gas & Electric and its systems. Effective until June 30, 1945, the WPB action also means customers in the Texas area are free of the order during that period. Join the March of Dimes to help children.
