The Clifton Cub Scout Pack 234 held its annual Pinewood Derby with families and neighbors cheering. Four winners were named by Joe K. Brown with Craig Culp taking first, Jay Culp second, Jerry McDougal third, and Chuck Hill earning best design.

Clifton Welfare Agency Holds Annual Meeting

The Clifton Welfare Agency held its annual meeting on Tuesday January 30 at 7 30 p m at Farmers State Bank Twelve representatives from ten organizations attended The secretary treasurer Leo Albrecht reported the agency aided thirteen welfare cases last year with most aid going to indigent transients for gasoline groceries or lodging The group voted to apply to the Internal Revenue Service for nonprofit charitable status Leo Albrecht was re elected secretary treasurer and Pastor John Ed Withers was elected to succeed Pastor Clay L Burns as lead pastor Attendees included Rev Walter YT Gigstad Mrs Donald A Gloff Mrs Robert O Rachig Rev Curtis Holland Jim Tarpley B W Massengale Calvert Helms Mrs Belle Remington Miss Erma Mael Nelson Rev J Morris Bailey and several others.

Two Vehicle Collisions Reported in Bosque County

Two Monday crashes occurred in Bosque County. Wiley Seward 81 of Clifton escaped with minor injuries after passing a truck on State Highway 174 and crashing into a left turning pickup driven by Lorenzo Olvera 46 of Koppers. No injuries in the second crash at the Highway 6 Mary Street intersection when Markle Lester pulled into the Oldsmobile driven by Jerry McCarver 36 of Arlington.

68 ASCS Signup Dates Set To Begin February

Bosque County farmers may sign up for the 1968 feed grain wheat and cotton programs February 5 through March 15, chairman Jack L. Rowland announced. Signups indicate program intentions and participation extent, with diversion payments and price support loans available for feed grain and cotton. wheat offers price support loans and marketing certificates but no diversion payments. The chairman urged early filing to avoid time loss.
