Texas Institute of Cultures borrows 65 Norwegian items from Bosque County and area collectors for a year long display at Hemisfair 68 in San Antonio. The largest piece is the Dahl Loom, with other items including a 2,000 pound mill stone and Ole Ringness plow.

Meridian College Night Class Offered At Meridian
Registration begins tonight at 7 p.m. at Meridian High School for an extension English course offered by Hill Junior College. Instructor James Hardin, Meridian resident, will teach beginning freshman composition each Thursday night through the spring semester. The course may be taken for audit or college credit.

68 Car Tag Sales Begin February 1st Bosque County
County Tax Assessor-Collector Earl Behringer’s staff start Feb 1 issuing 1968 motor vehicle registration tags. In 1967 Bosque County received 124 208.85 of the state total 201 756.21. County issued 5 406 passenger car and 925 farm truck tags, totaling 6 331 vehicles. 1968 plates will run FX L prefixes with HemisFair ’68 slogan on all plates.

Six Thefts In Bosque County In Five Days Spell Trouble
Bosque County merchants report at least six burglaries across multiple towns in five days. Three arrests tied to two break ins, while investigations continue. Targets include Helms Hardware Iredell, Oldham Grocery Iredell, Clifton Cattle Company near Clifton, Clifton Mercantile, Gandy’s Food Meridian, and Gandy’s Grocery Meridian. The Clifton Mercantile theft freed guns and clothing valued high, with office machines stolen at the Cattle Company and a broken back door entry at the Mercantile. A separate crash damaged the Clifton Mercantile front display window earlier in the week. Several suspects remain at large as investigators pursue leads.

Voters 21 and older must complete a registration form and return it to the Bosque County Tax Assessor-Collector in Meridian by next Wednesday. Forms are available from banks or inside this issue. Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Clifton offers assistance from January 22 to 31, 8 am to 5 pm, with home delivery for invalids upon call.

County to Aid Three Fire Depts with $1,000 Each
Bosque County Commissioners Court will contribute 1000 per year to Clifton Meridian and Valley Mills volunteer fire departments in three incorporations. Mayors signed the agreements and the plan was approved by the State Fire Insurance board. The 1000 payments began January 8 of this year.

CHS Band Concert Tickets On Sale
CHS Band and Band Parents Association began ticket sales for the CHS Band Concert set for 7 30 p m Thursday Feb 15 in Bettis Auditorium. The event features both the CHS marching and stage bands with free pie and coffee afterward in the cafeteria and a film and soundtrack of the marching band from a recent contest. The local stage band will perform pieces prepared for the Stage Band Contest at Tarleton College on Jan 27.
