Fires Prompt Clifton Volunteer Fire Department Calls
Three grass fires in a week drew CVFD equipment and personnel. The first fire was Dec. 21 at Wilson Building Materials. A second blaze occurred Dec. 24 on Farm Market Road 1991 near the railroad tracks, four miles north of Clifton. The third fire, at 10 p.m. Monday, was also on Farm Market Road 1991 near the tracks. A Goodall-Witcher Hospital Foundation alarm at 3:45 p.m. Monday brought a van, a rural truck and two pumpers, but no fire was found.

County sales top 14.5 million in second quarter
