Clifton City Council accepted a bid from Gloff Motors for a Pontiac Catalina at 3975 dollars with trade in of a 1976 Pontiac Le Mans. Other bids ranged to 5144.99 and 5625 plus trade in. Delivery is expected within eight weeks.
Mayor Isenhower stated 9th Street would serve the Goodall-Witcher Hospital and Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home and could ease traffic. Alderman Erickson’s motion to fund the $12,000 project died for lack of a second as the council moved on with no action taken.
Elton B. Evans announces a 20 year plan approved by the State Highway and Public Transportation Commission includes widening and grading on State Highway 6 from Hico to 7.5 miles northwest of Meridian in Bosque and Hamilton Counties. The plan excludes other farm to market, urban, safety and new betterment projects due to projected financing limits.
Clifton received a 13 693.23 dollar city sales tax rebate from state Comptroller Bob Bullock in Austin. Through the year, Clifton total rebates reach 77 982.56, up 9 percent from 1976.
The Texas Highway Patrol investigated 10 rural traffic accidents in Bosque County during November. There were no deaths and three injuries from these incidents. For the year Bosque County totals are 146 rural crashes with three deaths and 72 injuries. District 6A counties report 6,069 rural crashes causing 214 deaths and 3,491 injuries, up from 5,568 crashes, 184 deaths, and 2,943 injuries year earlier.
Mayor Charles M. Isenhower won a HOTCOG executive committee seat at the annual HOTCOG dinner in the Waco Convention Center by acclamation. County Judge Charles K. Word Jr. served on the nominating committee and Bosque County attendees included Judge and Mrs Word, Mayor and Mrs Isenhower, City Secretary Mrs M R White, and William T. Jordan publisher of The Clifton Record.
The Clifton Independent School District board seeks a new head coach and athletic director for 1978 79. They will not renew Donald Hennig’s contract and may hire replacements after reviewing applications. The board authorized advertising and accepted coaching post applications after executive sessions.

Alfred Louis Qpela was arrested by Officer Steve Aston on two Limestone County warrants for felony thefts. He appeared before Judge W R Lively with bonds set at 2500 each, failed to meet bond, and was remanded. Opera received 1500 bond on a burglary charge after latest arrest. Earlier, he had been released from Bosque County Jail pending grand jury action. Also, a nighttime break at Gloff Motors on State Highway 66 yielded cash from a drawer after a window was broken and the cash taker removed.
