Death of Arcadia resident John W. Denton
John William Denton of Arcadia died at Galveston County Memorial Hospital on December 17 after a massive coronary. He was born September 20, 1896 in Hurst Springs, son of the late John Yancy Denton and Arena Elizabeth Rich Denton, and longtime Clifton resident. He moved to Clifton years ago and suffered a heart attack prior to hospital admission on December 3. He passed away Friday night at 8:39.

Tommy Turner, employed with his brother in law H. L. Watson at Port Lavaca, returned to his parents Clyde and Mrs. Turner last Saturday after a ten day hospital stay for burns from a hot wire. Friends express hope for a full recovery.

Courthouse Ladies Host Christmas Gathering at Bosque County
Mrs Jack Railcheck welcomed courthouse ladies at her home on December 15 with a log burning fireplace and holiday decorations while guests included Mrs Wade Hanson Miss Delmelia Dunn and several others. The following day December 16 the courthouse employee Christmas dinner drew about 75 attendees with families joining for a meal and social time.

Clifton High Announces District 13-A Basketball Schedule
Clifton High School releases District 13-A schedule for the boys and girls teams with B team games at 6:00 PM and girls at 7:00 PM. The Cubs won the district title last year and the girls were bi district champions for the second consecutive year. The team also heads to Midway High Boys Invitation Tournament starting December 28 with matchups against Lorena High and potential games against Axtell or Waco Kittens. Baylor tournament participation for Clifton girls is noted. Recent Cedar Hill Tournament results show Clifton boys 55 Red Oak 52 and Clifton girls 51 Red Oak 29 with Itasca and DeSoto reaching finals in their respective divisions.

Clifton Cubs see two players named to Super Centex team
Clifton High School coach Aubrey T. Roberts again lands two players on the Waco Tribune-Herald 1965 Super Centex Football Team. James Haywood and Danny Dietiker repeat as honorees, joining teammates Mike Robins and Larry Lawless from Clifton on the all star roster. Clifton firms hosted Christmas suppers and tree decorations for employees and their spouses. The National Guard Armory housed a large Community Public Service event with a 630 PM start, while Clifton Mercantile enjoyed a 5:30 PM supper and gift exchange. Santa distributed gifts at the Central Division gathering and Clif-Tex Manufacturing honored ten year veterans with a large party at the Armory.
