County Cotton Producers Vote To Approve Quotas

Bosque County cotton producers approved marketing quotas with 79 for and 15 against in a November referendum led by Henry T Bass of Meridian. Transfers outside the county failed by a two thirds vote. Four Peanut producers voted on peanut quotas with support limited to a minority.

Clifton High School boys and girls basketball teams will travel to Cedar Hill for the Invitation Tournament. Girls face Red Oak Friday at 5:30 PM, with potential games Saturday morning depending on results. Boys play Red Oak at 6:15 PM Friday, with subsequent matchups set by earlier results.

CHS musicians led by Glen Judah competed in Lake Air Junior High School Waco tryouts earning spots for All-Regional Band at Belton High School on January 8. If selected, they perform January 15 at Temple High School with others from Clifton High School listed among participants.

Mrs Emil Herzog Dies in Clifton Hospital

Mrs. Emil Herzog aged 74 of Meridian dies in Clifton hospital after long illness. Born July 1 1891 at The Grove near Temple, she was one of seven Ruecker children and lived in Temple Crawford and Clifton areas. She married Emil Herzog on December 24 1908 in Temple. the Union produced twelve children.

Mrs. Eva L. McCoy Rites Held in Meridian

Eva L. McCoy 95 longtime Clifton resident died December 14 at the Meridian home of her son-in-law and daughter Lester and Mrs. Smith. Funeral services were held December 15 at the Bristol Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian with Rev. Guy K. Wilson and Rev. Homer F. Pumphrey presiding. Interment was in Clifton Cemetery.

Poage Addresses Clifton Lions Club on Medicare and Agriculture

United States Congressman W R Poage spoke to Clifton Lions Club at City Hall dining room on December 14 stressing Medicare potential impact and the need for productive aid, education efforts, foreign aid trade goals, and agricultural policy encouraging land non use payments and freer goods flow. 350 Students Sing In Clifton Christmas Program

About 350 students from the Clifton Public Schools choral department will perform a one hour Christmas program in Bettis Auditorium on Sunday December 19. Narrators Danny Jenkins and Terry Watson and accompanist Vicki Gandy will participate. Miss Lottie Bettis oversees decorations. Clifton High will close for holidays December 21 and resume January 3.

Benson family moves from Waco to Webb Air Force Base

Captain G M Benson and wife with sons Stevens and Scotty relocate from Waco where he attended Pilot Instructors School to Webb Air Force Base at Big Spring. Mrs Benson and sons previously lived a year in Viet Nam while he served. A son expects a promotion to major, from Clifton.
