Winners chosen at 10 a.m. Tuesday, notified by mail, and published in The Clifton Record. Certificates redeemable through Dec 31 at participating Clifton businesses.

Resignation of Clifton First Baptist Pastor Thornburg
The Rev W Bryan Thornburg resigns as pastor of Clifton Texas First Baptist Church effective December 31 1977. He will preach a final sermon December 25 and plans to move to Waco for theological studies at Southwestern Seminary after retirement from the Air Force in 1970 and a six year Clifton tenure. He cites gratitude for the church and community and thanks staff deacons and volunteers.

Bosque County Rotary Club set March 10 for the third annual Bosque County Talent Show. President Clarence Fields Jr. announced proceeds will fund scholarships for Bosque County seniors, with five scholarships awarded since 1975.

The James (Doc) Johnson family lost most clothing and possessions when a fire destroyed their residence early December 7 near Norse Community. Clifton and Craw fills Gap volunteer fire departments fought the blaze from 5 15 to 9 a m. Major damage also at Ed Palmer home in Possum Trot Route 2 with three CVFD trucks. Assistant Chief Harold Kettler cut his foot. treated at Goodall Witcher Hospital. Valley Mills VFD assisted. four grass fires fought in past week. CVFD total 102 fires year to date.

Bosque County Commissioners endorse a Central Texas scenic parkway proposed by Congressman W R Poage. The 200 mile route would run from Granburg to Fredericksburg along existing highways with observation points and native plantings. Bosque County will begin survey work and revise plans for a proposed Meridian jail at a site east of the Precinct 1 barn. Robert E. Webster of Fort Worth firm Precast Architectural Services will update designs. an area surveyor will assess land elevations.
