Flat Top Ranch Geology Drives Water Conservation Study
Baylor University student Johnnie B Brown analyzes Flat Top Ranch near Walnut Springs. He concludes that the Paluxy sand’s permeability, sandwiched between Walnut Clay and Glen Rose limestone, makes the surface water storage and subirrigation system highly effective. The study links geology, soils, and climate to the ranch’s underground storage success and notes the program would vary with different geologic conditions.
