Candidates Must File Applications for Democratic Primary Ballot
Albert Hastings Rosque County Democratic Chairman reminds potential candidates to file a written application to place their names on the May 2 1964 ballot. The deadline is February 3 1964 with a $50 deposit required at filing. Hastings will be in the courthouse at Meridian on December 23 1963 and again January 6 and February 3 1964 to assist applicants. The Texas Election Code allows filing with the county chairman at the time of application.

Mrs N W Willett Jr aged 16 years 10 days of 315 South Avenue Gim Clifton died around 1 20 oclock Wednesday December 18 after a heart attack and related attacks. Funeral services set for 8 00 pm Friday December 26 at the Church of Christ Clifton conducted by Isaac Traylor. Interment in Clifton Cemetery. Record to publish full obituary next week.

Death of Mrs Matt Finstad in Clifton
Mrs Matt Finstad of Clifton died Friday morning December 13 in Irving after a sudden stroke. She was 84 years, 1 month, and 5 days old, survived by her son A J Blackwell of Clifton, daughter Mrs Otto Walsleben of Valley Mills, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and was a longtime Clifton resident with strong church and community ties. Funeral services were held December 15 at Clifton Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev Peyton Goodman with interment in Clifton Cemetery.

Peggy Aars Named Tournament Queen at Hubbard Event
Clifton High School junior Peggy Aars was named sweetheart of the Hubbard Lions Club Rows Basketball Tournament after a field of 11 entries. She received a trophy and a bouquet of red carnations as representatives from Clifton attended the Hubbard event. The Midway Panthers won the tournament 53 to 38 over Hubbard Jaguars in the finals. Clifton’s boys suffered early losses but posted a Friday win over Hubbard and a consolation round loss to Riesel.
