First Bosque County Shorthorn Fall Sale Nets Over 14000
Despite bad weather the Bosque County Shorthorn Breeders Association sold 55 lots of Registered Shorthorns at Clifton. Top bull prices reached 550 dollars with 22 bulls averaging 274 dollars, cows and calves averaging 313 dollars, and 12 open heifers at 198 dollars. Half sold within 50 miles, another 30 percent within 100 miles, and the rest farther. J J Puckett bought eight bulls as the heaviest buyer. the event included a banquet and remarks by Johnny Watkins on beef quality and production.

Sixty nine 4H members will receive awards at the Annual Bosque County 4H Achievement Banquet at 7:00 P.M. in Clifton National Guard Armory. Senator Crawford Martin of Hillsboro will speak. Clifton Lions Club members enjoyed a Christmas carol program by the Clifton High School Choir directed by Mrs. O. R. Jenson during their Tuesday gathering. Plans with the Jaycees to honor Clifton’s 1960 football squad were announced, with a January 19 event at the National Guard Armory and a joint ticket sale for the community. Proceeds split with Clifton High School support the band and Lions programs for local youths.
