Two Injured In Train Pickup Crash Near Clifton
A pickup driver Tammy Benfer Bledsoe of Clifton and a passenger David Hobbs from Route 1 Clifton were injured when a southbound pickup struck a northbound freight train at the Santa Fe crossing on Farm Market Road 1991 eight miles north of Clifton. Hobbs was critically hurt and transported to Parkland Hospital Dallas after initial treatment at Goodall-Witcher Hospital Foundation.

Brakes Fail Leads to Two Bus Collision on Riverside Dr
Two school buses collided on Riverside Drive last week when the brakes failed on one bus. No hospital injuries reported. Buses were returning from Clifton High School. one bus sustained light damage while the other suffered medium heavy damage. Police identify ongoing investigation by Officer Charles Ford and Police Chief Alvin James.

The Clifton Public Schools band and choir will unite for a Sunday 2:30 p.m. performance in Bettis Auditorium on December 11. About 400 students from grades 3 through 12 will perform secular band pieces and sacred choir numbers. Admission is free.

Floodwater retaining structure now ready at Hog Creek Project
The first floodwater retarding structure in the Hog Creek Watershed Project has been completed. A final inspection last week included Bosque County Judge C. K. Ward and other officials. Vegetation work is slated for early 1978 with a second structure design due by July 1978.

Housing group names John Holt president for senior housing project
John R. Holt of Meridian is elected president of the Meridian Clifton Housing Development Corporation. Clifford V. Bronstad is vice president, Bill Meglasson is secretary treasurer, with Norm Mayes joining as director. The nonprofit group will oversee a 60 duplex senior housing project in Clifton and Meridian financed by a 1.225 million bond. Construction starts next year with rents around 209 to 255 dollars, subsidized for low income elderly through HUD Dallas.

Santa greets 300 plus kids in Clifton downtown
More than 300 youngsters met with Santa Claus in downtown Clifton on Saturday to share holiday wishes and receive candy donated by the Clifton Chamber of Commerce. The event was aided by YVYonnie Glenn, Darrell Spenrath, and the Clifton Jaycees who built a stand and managed the crowd. Santa also visited the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home with Safita, giving candy to nearly 200 residents. R. D. Odom chaired the Chamber retail activities committee and oversaw logistics.

Clifton physician Dr S L Witcher will be inducted into Baylor Hall of Fame at a 7 p m Friday banquet at the Waco Convention Center. Witcher, Baylor graduate and 1931 all Southwest Conference guard, also played football, was named to Baylor's All Decade team 1921-30, and played in the Dixie Bowl.
