Hospital to take over Clifton ambulance service

The Goodall-Witcher Hospital Foundation will assume Clifton ambulance service on Jan. 1 replacing Clifton Funeral Home which stops Dec. 31. J. B. Darden Jr will donate the 1972 ambulance. The service will operate for Clifton and its trade area with cash payments, optional long distance transfers via D and E Ambulance of Waco, and possible future expansion.

Santa’s Downtown Clifton visit attracts 300 plus youngsters

Santa Claus drew over 300 children to downtown Clifton on Saturday afternoon for his annual appearance. The Clifton Jaycees organized the two hour event with Bell Canty boys and girls, while the chamber of commerce funded candy. Santa arrived by Clifton Police cruiser and Clifton Volunteer Fire Department truck, greeted youngsters on the curb, then visited residents at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home.

Fireman's Ball to Ring in New Year in Clifton

Clifton Volunteer Fire Department hosts its annual Fireman's Ball on December 31 to raise funds for new firefighting equipment. Jerry Benfer Band performs 8 p.m. to midnight. tickets sold at local businesses or from fire department members with free snacks and set-ups included.

Revenue sharing to rise locally in four-year period

Bosque County will receive more Washington revenue over the next four years as Congress approves a $25.6 billion general revenue payout for states counties cities and subdivisions. The funding covers Jan 1 1977 to Sept 30 1980 and amounts to about 6.8 billion annually.

Choir Sings Sunday Christmas Program in Bettis Auditorium

Sunday at 2 30 p m Bettis Auditorium will host a 45 minute Christmas program by grades 4 through 8 and high school choirs. The event begins with carols and a cantata titled Christmas Folk Style and ends with American carols. Several solos will be featured and scenes to enhance the meaning of the words are planned. Mrs Tyler and Mrs Railsback direct. Rehearsals have lasted about five weeks with no admission charge.

Burglary, thefts, and court fines reported in Clifton notes

Weekend burglaries at Exxon warehouse and a North Ave D residence prompted police alerts. Items stolen include a toolbox hand tools and anti-freeze, a tape player, radio, and beer. Two arrests for public intoxication and theft were made. ladders recovered. Texas county funds planned allocations outlined with future unrestricted use starting 1977, plus stronger anti bias rules.

Schools seek parental help to curb contagious diseases

Clifton Independent School District trustees heard a petition signed by 61 parents urging immediate written notification to all grades whenever a student or staff member is diagnosed with a contagious illness. They emphasized early alerts to protect health, education, and welfare, noting past scabies cases and related costs.

The board reappointed Talbert and Williams of Waco to audit CISD financial records for 1976 77. Textbook Committee for 1976 77 includes Janice Collins George aanne Kettler Warlick Jayne Warlick Ruth Horak Tom Hubert Lee Stanley David Tyssen Jim Goldsmith Judy Richardson Betty Pearson Joe Bryan and Liardon. An exhaust fan will be installed in restrooms at Clifton Elementary and Junior High School foyer by Clifton Electric and Refrigeration for 100. Mrs Richardson named to succeed Angela Payne. Richardson, with BA in English and French minor from East Texas State University, taught eighth grade language arts at Bailey Junior High School in Arlington.

Lions to hear Baptist pastor at December Clifton meeting

The Rev. Bryan Thornburg of First Baptist Church will deliver a Christmas message at the Clifton Lions Club December gathering Tuesday noon in Schmidt's Downtown Restaurant. Rev Ted Steenblock leads carols. another minister will give the offering. This is Clifton Lions Club’s only December meeting.

HOTCOG honors Judge C K Word at 10th anniversary banquet

The Heart of Texas Council of Governments paid tribute to outgoing president County Judge Charles K Word Jr at the Waco Convention Center. Word called his term a pleasure and challenge as HOTCOG expanded to 30 staff and 50 member governments. Mayor Earle Long of Teague succeeds him, praising Word’s leadership. Judge Word received a commemorative gavel from HOTCOG. County Judge Bob Thomas introduced Attorney General John Hill, the keynote speaker, and dancing followed the banquet program with a “10 years after” theme.
