Clifton Independent School District plans a new $800 000 high school building with bids to be opened January 6 1972 at 7 p m. Trustees aim to start construction by January 24 with completion targeted by August 20 1972.
Roy K. Robb aged 28, formerly a caseworker at the State Schools for Boys, is named to the new probation officer post for the 52nd Judicial District. He starts duties Monday as the probation department is established with funding.
Clifton banks under state charter close on Dec 24 25 and Dec 31 Jan 1. Post offices and most offices shut on Christmas Day and New Years Day. Retail stores mostly close Christmas and New Year but stay open on preceding Fridays and following Mondays. Clifton schools have exams Dec 21 and return Jan 5. teachers work Jan 3 4. The Record publishes a day early Dec 21 with copy due Dec 16. Advertised store specials run Dec 22 24.
The Baylor University Concert Choir directed by Dr. Ewell Porter will perform a Christmas music concert at First Baptist Church in Clifton at 7 45 p m Sunday December 12. The group has been invited to tour the Holy Land and will sing in Jerusalem on Christmas Day. The public is invited to attend.
Clifton four basketball squads boast a 13 14 start with the varsity girls going 6 0 and the Squad girls 5 1, while the boys race to perfection in their first games. Clifton 38 Crawfills Gap 34. 48 3 Gap 31. 39 Crawford 30. 56 Meridian 12. 44 V Mills 37. 50 V Mills 46. overtime thriller noted.
Clifton's boys opened 1971-72 with a 54-37 win over Valley Mills Pagies and later edged Valley Mills Eagle 25-24 in their cage debut. Delayed by football playoffs CHS squads started season late while Clifton girls began strong with 11 wins in 12 games.
Clifton Girls and Boys Varsity squads and Beqoad Boys each won Tuesday at Whitney to keep perfect records. Boys Varsity won 48 26 led by Russell Symank with 18 points and Russell Hall 11 with nine rebounds. Cub B Squad 32 22 feat tied for 9 points by Mike Pierson and Randy Kleine. Girls Varsity 51 47 extended season run to seven straight with Linda Schulze 20 and Dianne Smith close behind. Clifton Girls B Squad did not play.
Mrs Edie Ostrander home economist for Lone Star Gas will present a program on gift ideas and Christmas food at 2 30 p m December 14 in Clifton City Hall dining room sponsored by the Bosque Co Home Demonstration Clubs The public is invited and urged to attend this free program
The Clifton High School Choir performs a Christmas program on Sunday December 19 at 2 30 in Bettis Auditorium under director Mrs Patsy Ruth Lancaster.

The Clifton City Hall Senior Citizens Center opens all day Friday December 10 with handmade articles on display and for sale. Items will also be on sale Friday December 17. The public is invited.
