Mrs Anna Matson Dies After Stroke in Clifton
Anna Matson aged 91 of Clifton died December 22 after a stroke on December 16. A Bosque County resident since 191?, she lived in Clifton Sunset Home and Our Savior s Lutheran Church. Funeral at Our Savior s Lutheran Church Norse conducted by Rev Joel E Nelson with organist Susan Witcher and soloist Nancy Swenson. Pallbearers listed. Interment in Our Savior s Church Cemetery. Born in Selvig Sande Norway November 18 1869 she married John Matson in 1885. survived by nine sons and two daughters with numerous grandchildren. Her obituary notes long Lutheran faith and life in Turkey Creek and Clifton communities.

Funeral services for Mrs. Anton Nelson 86 4 29 of Clifton were held Dec 28 at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home and Trinity Church. Born July 28 1874 in Norse near Clifton she married Anton Olaus Nelson in 1895 and raised seven children. She lived in Clifton most of her life and died Dec 26 after a heart condition and complications.

Fire alarms keep Clifton volunteers busy over holidays
Three alarms during Christmas and the holiday period occupied the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department. A Christmas morning blaze at Floyd Vickrey’s residence near South Avenue caused extensive damage while Fred Lange slept inside. A Christmas afternoon grass fire near Ole Oscar Olson’s home in the north Clifton area is believed set by fireworks. Monday afternoon Curtis Bakke’s Norse area car fire damaged its paint and wiring as crews prevented spread to nearby structures.

Mrs. Louise Caroline Knust Dittrich of Route 2 Valley Mills died Thursday at 4:00 PM at Clifton hospital. She was 63 years old and survived by son Arno Dittrich and daughter Huberta Dittrich, plus four sisters and a brother. Funeral held December 24 at Zion United Church of Christ in Womack.
