Members and families of the Selmer Erickson Post 322 will meet at 7 p.m. Saturday December 6 for their annual Christmas Supper at the American Legion Building in Clifton Park. The covered dish meal includes turkey and ham, with gifts exchanged from 1 to 2 dollars. Members bring own children’s gifts.
Jail escapee Willie Newsome remains sought after as lawmen pursue clues across Bosque County and neighboring counties. The 20 year old, arrested on burglary charges, fled Meridian’s Bosque County jail Tuesday afternoon with investigators unsure of the escape method.
Clifton High Cubs were halted by Honey Grove Warriors 7 to 6 in a defensive regional playoff at Haltom City Birdville Stadium. The Warriors stopped Clifton twice on short downs near the goal line including a failed two-point attempt after a touchdown.
Clifton finishes 9-1-1 after a hard fought 7-6 loss to Honey Grove in a district final. Dreyer and Wallace sparked multiple drives but two late inches denied the Cubs a winning two point try and a possible tie.
The Record lists two candidates for the May 2 Democratic primary. Bosque County Judge incumbent Kk. W. Fibber McGee seeks re election. Fern R. White announces candidacy for District Clerk. Other hopefuls invited to contact The Record for column listing.
Four grade levels from fourth to high school will sing familiar hymns to start the Christmas Program at 3 p.m. Sunday December 14 in Bettis Auditorium Clifton. The second part features fifth and sixth grade choir a junior high choir and high choir with a cantata Christmas Folk Style by Rosemary Hadler directed by Patsy Ruth Lancaster.
Postmaster Robert Baldridge urges timely mailing for Christmas parcels and cards. Air mail should be used for overseas deliveries with deadlines of December 10 for Africa and the Far and Near East and December 14 for Europe.
Visitors toured a diverse show at the Bosque Memorial Museum, Clifton, featuring watercolors oils and Western sculptures by Melvin C. Warren. Local figures Mr and Mrs Warren and Mr and Mrs Edwin L. Goff spoke with guests while Ming bronzes and Nordic pieces added variety.
