58 Year Masonic Award Presented to L. E. Tennison
Shelby Winfrey, Grand Secretary of the Royal Arch Chapter, visited Clifton on Monday night November 23 to present L. E. Tennison with a 58 year Mason anniversary pin and certificate from the Grand Lodge of Texas during Clifton Lodge No. 360 AF and AM. Tennison, who reached his 50th year as a Mason in 1963, hoped for a new Masonic building project but the ceremony proceeded as planned. The presentation occurred about 7:36 PM at the regular meeting, with Tennison already a long-serving member and holding multiple Grand Lodge and Eastern Star roles in Texas.

Two Clifton Men Enlist in Navy for Training at San Diego
Two Clifton youths Michael Ray Fletcher and Johnny Wayne Kettler have joined the U S Navy and are in basic training at the Naval Training Center in San Diego California. Fletcher enlisted November 23 and is the son of Mr and Mrs B Fletcher while Kettler enlisted November 17 and is the son of Mrs Ed Kettler. After nine weeks of training they will receive 14 day leaves at home before reporting to their duty stations for further training.

Four Collisions Reported In County Over Weekend
Texas Highway Patrolman Harvey PD Lane of Clifton reports four highway accidents in the past weekend. A 1959 Ford driven by Mrs John T Turner of Valley Mills collided with a 1956 Plymouth driven by Henry L Wiede of Clifton on South Highway 66 near Highway 6. both drivers sustained minor injuries and about 500 in damage. A 1964 GMC pickup driven by James Barton Thompson of Clifton struck a parked 1960 Pontiac owned by Sonja Pruitt Harris. Thompson was treated for cuts and bruises and released. A 1955 Mercury wagon driven by Edgar Forest Grady of Walnut Springs collided with Phillip Edwin Munden’s 1964 Ford coach on a gravel road near Walnut Springs. no injuries.

Mark Canuteson Hurt In Tractor Mishap Near Walnut Springs
Eight year old Mark Canuteson son of Cecil Canuteson Clifton and Mrs Johnny Judkins Route 1 Walnut Springs was seriously injured when he fell from a tractor and its trailer ran over him around 430 Tuesday November 24. He suffered a broken leg skull fracture ruptured eardrum and partial facial paralysis. He was first taken to Clifton hospital then to Hillcrest Hospital in Waco in serious condition but showing signs of improvement.
