Clifton Lions Club to lead 42nd Central Texas Fair parade
A parade through downtown Clifton begins at 6 tonight forming on Ave D near Live Oak Street for the 42nd Central Texas Fair and 22nd Rodeo. Lions Club marshals urge riding clubs to assemble on the east side of Ave D as bands, floats, and banners prepare for the event and the fair stalls follow with prizes and activities.

Dr Victor Vance Davie Joins Clifton Clinic Staff

Two Men Arrested In Me ridian Theft Case
Police Chief Homer Waller said two men arrested Friday evening appeared Monday before Bosque County Judge Charles Ward Jr at the County Courthouse in Meridian for a preliminary hearing. They are charged with theft under $50, a Class 2 misdemeanor, in connection with goods belonging to Walls Industries Inc.

Booster Club Seeks Soap Donations for Scrimmage
Clifton Booster Club asks fans to bring one bar of soap for admission to the Clifton High versus Rogers High scrimmage at 7 p.m. Friday August 31 in the Clifton Cubs Stadium. Soap will be used by players during the season. The club meets 7:30 p.m. Monday September 2 at Clifton Elementary School. Clifton Fire Dept Battles Four Fires In Week
The Clifton Volunteer Fire Department fought four fires last week including three grass and brush blazes and one automobile fire. Fire Chief George Harris said crews extinguished a car fire at 703 South Avenue L on Wednesday August 22. Two grass fires followed on Thursday August 23 at the Casper Ranch and the Raymond Stadia property on Farm-To-Market Road 56. On Friday August 24 a grass and brush fire occurred at Brazos Point.

Accidents Hurt 14 During July
Fourteen persons were injured in 21 motor vehicle accidents on rural highways in Bosque County during July. There were six deaths. For the first seven months of this year, there were 118 accidents, three deaths, and 48 injuries on county rural highways according to J W Wilson, Texas Dept. of Public Safety Highway Patrol supervisor.
