The Clinton School reopening sets Aug 19 for classes and book distribution. Registration for 9th and 10th graders occurs Wednesday morning while 7th and 8th grade sign in Wednesday afternoon. Special education is added and new laws require inoculations and prohibit loitering on school property.
Clifton Independent School Districts board accepted a low interest bid on 800000 in bonds Monday night, moving the Catton High School project closer to realization. Republic National Bank of Dallas and Fort Worth National Bank bid jointly at an average rate of 3.502 percent over 20 years, about 98780 less than the next lowest offer.
Civic Society plans its annual turkey dinner in Clifton with coordinators listed and bids for financing the event. Clifton School bond issues approved with Moody’s BAA and S&P BBB ratings. lowest bid 0.845 percent and total payout projected under $1 million, enabling early construction plans.
The State Health Dept and local officials announced a three clinic schedule for Bosque County students under the 1971 72 State Immunization Program. First polio diphtheria tetanus shots in September at C Gap Meridian Iredell Walnut Springs Morgan Kopper Clifton Valley Mills. Second Clinic in October covers diphtheria tetanus rubella measles with same towns and times. Third Clinic in November provides 2nd polio and makeups for those missed earlier. Clinics are run by State Health Dept personnel.

Glenda Wells of Clifton is one of nine Smile Girls selected to promote the Heart of Texas Fair in Waco this October. The contest began with 61 entrants, then 31 judged to finalists, and a second judges’ cut reduced the field to 16. Photos will appear as received. Wells also competes for District Queen of the Farm.
Clifton Cubs coach Au brey Roberts spoke at the Lions Club luncheon outlining a 76-player football program with 15 lettermen returning and a strong defensive unit. He noted possible two backfields, shared training rules, and district enrollment factors that could affect class placement and fielding.
Robert D. Barnes Jr Field Representative from the Waco Social Security Office will be at Clifton City Hall Dining Room at 9 30 a m on Tuesday September 7 to meet constituents and assist with inquiries.
Members of the Cotton Cubs Booster Club are urged to attend a business meeting next Tuesday August 24 at 7 30 pm in City Park Legion Hall. The gathering will plan support for the upcoming school year athletic programs and invite local men to join. A stag barbecue supper and membership drive will be held.
At City Hall Monday night the Clifton Industrial Foundation and Clifton Chamber of Commerce discussed and unanimously approved making their boards identical to speed business. Twenty six members attended the annual meeting as both groups already shared directors on both sides, with prior unanimity in the previous meeting. The consolidation aims to streamline operations for Clifton.

The Youth Center, sponsored by First United Methodist Zion United Church of Christ and First Presbyterian, praises its busy year with a large steering committee and many sponsors. The August 20 dance for grades 7 through 12 costs 1.00 per person and features a Meridian group.
