Valley Mills Beauty Crowned Bosque County Farm Bureau Queen
Sue Pennington, daughter of Mrs Oma Pennington of Valley Mills, was named Bosque County Farm Bureau Queen at City Hall Clifton on Tuesday night August 16. The Valley Mills junior will represent the county at the District Queen Contest and in the Central Texas Fair Parade. She faced strong competition from Zeda Anne Jameson Mary Nell Hoel Elaine Bakke Mary Carol Nelson and Mary Sue Reichert. Paula Rawls, last year’s queen, was honored on stage during the ceremony.

Mrs. Mattie Olson Dies At Sunset Home
Mrs. Mattie Olson of Crawfills Gap died at 6:45 am Wednesday in Tyssen Hall at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home after a heart attack. She was 76 years old and had lived at the Sunset Home since March 12, with funeral services held at Clifton Funeral Home Chapel and St. Olaf Lutheran Church Cranfills Gap, officiated by Rev. Iver Haugen. Interment was in St. Olaf Rock Church Cemetery between Clifton and Crawfills Gap.

Ed Kettler aged 53 years 4 months 2 days of Route 1 Clifton died of a heart attack about 7:00 AM Wednesday while driving with his son Johnny Wayne 13 to Clifton Live stock Commission Company. Man Charged With Goat Theft in Bosque County
Sheriff Clark Royal filed charges in Bosque County against Bill Evans of Waco for two counts of goat theft. Bail set at 2000 dollars per count after two alleged thefts at Evans Ficklin’s ranch with a vehicle license observed. The case heads to the November grand jury.

Funeral services for John A Bakke Jr. held in Clifton
John Alfred Bakke Jr. 21 of Route 2 Clifton died in a car crash near midnight August 14 when a 1955 Dodge struck the Childress Creek bridge five miles east of Clifton on Highway 219. Two companions Randell Jermstad and James Clinton Johnson were seriously injured. Bakke served in the Army Reserve and attended North Texas State College. He is survived by his parents, a brother, a nephew, and many relatives.

Accident in Clifton District Injures Three
On Wednesday about 8 15 a 1953 Ford driven by Sidney Doyle Scott collided with a 1949 Studebaker pickup carrying Mr and Mrs Henry Helms on Highway 219 east of Clifton. Scott and Mr Helms were hospitalized with injuries while Mrs Helms returned home after treatment.
