Mrs. Brenholtz Dies Suddenly in Smith Bend Area

Ora Mae Brenholtz 72 died at home August 6 after a brief illness. Funeral at Walnut Springs Baptist Church on Monday with Rev. Doyle Edson and Rev. Harold Walker officiating. She is survived by her husband H. K Brenholtz, two brothers Bob and Lee Britton, a sister Mrs. Ed Jones, a step son Edwin Brenholtz and step daughter Mrs. R. E. Hilliard. Clifton Telephone Co Adds Office Space in Clifton

Work began last week on a new 15 by 30 foot office area for the Clifton Telephone Company to relieve crowding. The expansion will include storage and billing equipment as growth continues. REA plans approval is awaited for Norse area lines and construction. Mrs. Jack Raver of New York visits her mother Mrs. Millie Price. her schoolmates know her as Mildred Solberg.

Alligator Finds Lawn Sprinkler Near Schow Home

A young alligator about a foot long wandered from Jerry Ludtke’s Ludtke residence to Emmett H. Schow’s yard where Mrs. Schow noticed it under a sprinkler. The reptile, linked to a missing pet, was captured and later donated to a zoo in Waco with difficulty keeping it penned.

Almer Anton Jenson age 75 died of a heart attack Saturday afternoon at his home in Bosque County He was born near Clifton and lived most of his life on farms He is survived by his wife daughter and sister with two grandsons noted in Meridian First Baptist Church funeral held August 8.

Band Practice Start Date Set For August 22

Clifton High School band members will begin practice Monday August 22 from 7 30 to 9 30 P M each night that week. Instructor Bill Brown postponed the start due to many members at camp and urged players to wet instruments. The team faces a long lead in to the September 2 Clifton Hillsboro football game.

Clifton buys update on cattle prices and farm goods

Prices reported Thursday morning from Clifton buyers show eggs at 32c a dozen for No 1s, cream at 40c a pound, oats 69c a bushel, wheat 1.80 a bushel, barley 80c, corn 1.23, and cattle at steady but lower for butcher calves and yearlings. Hog tops at 17 to 17.50, lambs 9 to 16. Cattle sales featured 499 head with range across steers, cows, bulls, and calves.
