King Honored for 30 Years of Service
Harold King a Meridian range conservationist with the Soil Conservation Service received a certificate and pen from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 30 years in government service. The award was presented by Gary Batte of Stephenville at a Stephenville training conference. King's career spanned Sweetwater Rotan Throckmorton Aspermont and Meridian with roles in district conservation and field work. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II and remains active in professional and community groups.

Funerals Held for Shooting Victims in Fort Worth Area
Funeral rites were conducted for Edgar Bogard Estill age 70 of Lakeside Village and Stan Farr 30 of the Dallas Fort Worth region. Estill disappeared July 23 after cashing a $10,009 check. his body was found July 31 in Fort Worth and he died from multiple gunshot wounds. Farr had operated Bosque County Builders and Suppliers and later several ventures in Fort Worth. he was killed amid the Fort Worth mansion shooting involving Thomas Cullen Davis.

Cranfills Gap residents will elect a mayor five aldermen and a city marshal in the recently incorporated city. Voting runs 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the First Security State Bank community room. Morgan Voters Reject Off Premise Alcohol Sale
Morgan voters defeated a beer and wine sales proposal for off premise consumption in a special election held Saturday. The measure lost by 12480 with a turnout of 204 voters, higher than typical for Morgan elections.
