Mrs. Bill Painter underwent an appendectomy at the local hospital on April 7 and remained a patient Tuesday morning. Mrs. Henry Wegner of Waco visited Clifton with relatives, while Frank Loader Juanita Loader of Houston visited with John Tanner and R. E. Boyles. Ronnie Reichel, six months, stayed with grandparents as his family moves. Clyde Sanders family from Karnes City visited Clifton and Mrs. Schulze convalesced at Mrs. Zimmerman's home after Providence Hospital stay.

E A Priddy Santa Fe Railway Clifton agent retires April 15 after nearly 47 years of service. Born March 7 1893 in Priddy he began as telegraph apprentice at Goldthwaite June 23 1913 and served at multiple stations before returning to Clifton in 1954. H F Spivey will replace him in Clifton and Mr Priddy plans to remain in the area.

William F Dad Carpenter aged 83 years 8 months 20 days of 211 North Avenue J Clifton died suddenly between 3 30 and 4 15 Tuesday afternoon April 12 after long arterial hardening. Funeral services were held April 14 at the Church of Christ conducted by Minister J Roy Waldrum. Interment in Clifton Cemetery.

Auto Registrations Bring Sizable Fund in Bosque County
Through March 31 Bosque County collected 82711.46 from 1960 vehicle registrations and 32732.37 for the State Highway Department. The totals for 1959 were 77744.34 to the county and 27758.08 to the state. Behringer’s office notes 4058 passenger plates issued plus other categories.

Lone Star Gas Rate Hike Approved by Clifton Council
Clifton City Council approved a 5.4 cent per thousand cubic feet rate increase for Lone Star Gas residential and commercial service effective May 25, 1960. The raise matches a Railroad Commission city gate charge increase and reflects higher field gas costs and rising equipment prices since 1951. Local manager H A Carr said the increase offsets the cost of gas at the city gate and stabilizes service amid new pipeline supplies and higher wellhead prices.
