Meridian items report visits by Mrs ROS Graves and son Hugo of Flag Branch, Roy Gore of Itasca, and others. Local officials and residents travel to Dallas and San Antonio for censue work and crimes trials. Notables include Madam Yaw’s concert, Cole Younger lecture, and multiple property transfers and licenses in the area.
Geo Sermenfeld displayed a prized 1851 book titled Geometry and Trigonometry to the Record force. The volume once belonged to Judge Scratchfield and John Armstrong, kept as a county surveying relic, then placed in the Valley Mills Masonic building cornerstone in progress.
The district convention of the Modern Maccabees met at Clifton on Tuesday with a large delegation. Commander WC Pearson opened the session at 2 PM, K P Rowe was elected district commander, and DH Sanderson became record keeper. Representatives to the Head Caney meeting were chosen. A banquet followed and a free picture show for all attendees was offered. Local farmer AF Ganike reported selling two pigs for 41.10 each, and GO Bronstad et al were authorized to establish a Cratille Gap bank with a $10,000 capitalization.
