First Baptist Church Hosts Unnamed Fire Tract Meeting

The fire tracted meeting at this church began last night led by Pastor Rev J B Pletcher. Rev J P Gilliam of Uvalde will assist starting Sunday. The meetings will continue indefinitely and everyone is invited to attend the services.

Sheppard Envelope Bill Seeks End to Printed Envelopes

Washington April The House Committee on Post Offices and Post Roads asks Representative Sheppard to press a bill to prohibit the Post Office Department from furnishing envelopes with a return card printed in the corner. The House appropriations for post offices halted this practice for a year but exempted existing contracts. The Sheppard bill aligns with Postal Commission recommendations to stop the department from selling printed envelopes.

Kemp Kills Large Rattle Snake in Clifton Lot

William Kemp killed a six foot long diamondback rattlesnake on a vacant South Clifton lot last Saturday. The reptile, seven inches in diameter with fifteen rattles, reportedly threatened Mrs. W. S. Mixon before Kemp intervened. The snake was displayed in a local show window before being stored at Mixon’s home.
