Spring Festival Time Upped to 7 30

The annual Spring Festival titled Bluebonnet Land runs Thursday April 13 at Bettis Auditorium. Presented by the 4th 5th and 6th grades, the event starts at 7 30 PM instead of 8 00 PM and requires no admission to attend.

Summer Youth Baseball Sign Up Opens In Clifton

Sign up deadline is April 29 for Clifton youth baseball with registration forms at Clifton Public School. Three leagues available for ages 8 to 15: PeeWees, Freshman, and Junior programs with fees 6.00 for younger groups and 7.50 for juniors. Last year attracted 135 boys in 9 teams with 30 plus adults assisting and a new Little League park built with community support.

Clifton Hosts 18th Annual Flower Show on April 20

The Clifton Garden Club presents its 18th Annual Flower Show at Mrs. Currie Duncan’s home, 21 North Ave. R, Clifton, on Thursday April 20 from 2 30 to 6 p.m. The event titled Flowers on Parade has free admission and welcomes the public.

Farm Bureau Candidate Nite Set for April 22

The Bosque County Farm Bureau sponsors a Barbecue and Meet the Candidate program on Saturday night April 22 at Meridian School. Barbecue begins at 6 p.m. Most candidates plan to attend. Ed McKay, Texas Farm Bureau Legislative Director, will direct the program with equal speaking time for each candidate. Tickets are available.

Cancer Crusade Aims to Open Minds and Wallets

The Texas Division announces the April Crusade led by 90 000 volunteers to educate 3 million homes and 4000 Bosque County residents. Crusaders stress personal contact and commitment to save lives by promoting the idea that it pays to take time out for life. Barbara Lewis, Crusade Chairman, urges local volunteers to wear badges during outreach.

Clifton Housing Authority signs contract for 32 Low Rent units

After more than three years of effort the Clifton Housing Authority signed the construction contract to build 32 Low Rent housing units, 16 regular family and 16 elderly units. HUD official Marvel Domke, Belco Construction’s Randall Duncan, architect George Christiansen, and Authority Chairman Robert Baldridge Jr. led the ceremony. Scheduled to begin soon, with several commissioners and guests in attendance.

County Voter Registrations Up 704 Over 1971

Bosque County Tax Assessor-Collector Earl R. Behringer released April 5 1972 voter registration data by precincts for the May 5 primary. Total registrations rose 704 from 1971 with Meridan and Walnut Springs Laguna Park and Valley Mills showing notable gains. Steiner box had the largest percentage increase due to new residents near Lake Whitney.
