An Opinion Of The Cor Martial Of Lt. Calley
Congressman W R Poage argues the Calley verdict affects military tradition and self defense in war. He contends officers must support troops, combat conditions force instant action, and responsibility rests with commanders and the nation to equip soldiers properly. He questions punishing Calley for actions in Viet Nam and warns against ridiculing American fighting men amid war’s harsh realities.
