A reader from Ink Dropper praises Clifton Hospital staff for exceptional care during a recent stay. The letter lauds RNs L V Ns and student nurses for kindness, comfort, and morale boosting treatment, noting the attentive doctors and skilled medication administration. The writer stresses this local hospital compared favorably with prior experiences in larger cities.
Clifton High School bands earned top prizes at the 13th Annual Castleberry Band Festival in Fort Worth on April 3. The Stage Band won first place overall while the Concert Band earned best AA honors and received a J rating in Sightreading and a Ii rating in concert playing. Judges included Tim Bell, Bob Cartwright, Paul Mazzacano for the stage band and Bob Ingram, Gene Smith, Howard Dunn for the concert band. William Postlethwaite judged sightreading.
Clifton launches Direct Distance Dialing at 7 am with Mayor Pierson making the first call to H. C. Dahl in Beverly Hills. Officials Bill Blewett and A. H. Skinner led the ceremony, noting Clifton’s expansion to Crawfills Gap Laguna Park and Turnersville as equipment is installed.
Area churches announce Easter week programs including sunrise services at Cedar Shores Community Chapel led by Rev. Robert Rachirg with music by the Community Gospel Singers of Walnut Springs, and Easter Sunday sermons at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Guy Wilson. Good Friday services at First Methodist Clifton and Cayote Methodist Church feature Holy Communion. Trinity Lutheran Clifton and Immanuel Lutheran also schedule Holy Communion and special services.
A Rosane County resident seeks plastic surgery help for a family member. Communities Faye and others donate toward the family’s expenses while local notices ask to refrain from sharing sensitive personal details. Easter services and church events are announced, including Holy Communion and a Foster Party for children.
During April the Farmers State Bank of Clifton will transfer checking accounts to a high speed computer, completing in four weeks by changing about one fourth of accounts each week. Existing counter check pads remain honored until exhausted, and personal checks will carry numbers to speed processing. Authorized signatures will continue to be verified manually.
Central Texas area tracks set for the annual Cup Relays with 29 schools entered besides Clifton. About 300 athletes expected Saturday at Clifton High School Track Field with prelims at 1 30 p m and finals around 7 p m. Crowley Hillsboro Mart Midway and Joplinson predicted to dominate.
Voters crowded Bosque County on Saturday casting ballots in city and school trustee races. C Perneil Aars won the Precinct No 4 county school trustee seat 724 to 696 over James Gibbs. Rowland defeated Shipp in Precinct No 2 169 to 60. Shipp carried Valley Mills and Walnut Springs margins differ by locale. Clifton and Crawfills Gap show mixed results for Aars and Rowland. The Clifton Chamber of Commerce will honor outgoing Mayor Pierson and welcome incoming Mayor Isenhower at 7 30 p m Tuesday April 13 in the Clifton City Hall main dinning room. L Neil Gately will serve as master of ceremonies and present awards while Judge E W Fibber McGee administers the oath of office to Isenhower.
Clifton's new hatchery will incubate 93 600 turkey eggs weekly, producing poults for Central Texas farms and the Planta tion Foods plant in Waco. The $350 000 operation on Highway 6 employs 18 to 20 people and opens to the public April 18.
The April 1971 Bosque County Grand Jury returned thirteen indictments for felony offenses in 2nd Judicial Court under Judge Byron McCellan. Four defendants faces possession of marijuana charges, the first such indictments in the county. Indicted individuals include David F Fehler, William Paul Godby, Michael Dell Place, James Barton Thompson among others for DWI burglary and other counts.
