City Receives $10,026.98 Sales Tax Payment
Clifton collected 10,026.98 in city sales tax for October through December, the largest quarter since the tax began, reflecting a strong local economy. The rebate pool totals 36.5 million to about 500 Texas cities as the state collects a joint one percent city tax and 3.25 percent state tax, then deducts the handling fee.

Clifton School Board discussions with three appraisal firms on the Dutton District valuation and bond plans for an $8 million project to build a new Clifton High School. Bids ranged from 21 980 to 31 920, higher than budget. an equalization appraisal board will start work. The district valuation to support bonds rises to about 13 million, with Clifton land taxed at about 24 percent of value. Architects from Rucker Chamlee have reviewed plans. 22.35 acres gifted by Carl E Olsen may be annexed by Clifton city.

Local Cindermen Win at Hillsboro High Track Meet
Clifton High School cindermen dominated the Hillsboro meet held Saturday March 27. Tom Henderson won the pole vault and was second in the high hurdles. D P Canuteson took fourth in the shot put. Russell Symank was sixth in the mile and Lindsey Wallace took third in the 440 yard dash. The Mile Relay team of Russell Hall Martin Greile Douglas Symank and Lindsey Wallace finished fourth. Next meet is at Midway on April 5 with Cub Relays set for April 10 at Clifton Track Field.
