Cancer Crusade Now Underway in Bosque County
The American Cancer Society launches its 1963 Crusade with the slogan To Care More Give More. Bosque County crusade chairman Edwin Bekkeland urges residents to support early cancer detection and research as progress raises cures from under 20 percent to about one third. the drive began Monday April 1. Local visitors include Mr and Mrs Bert Turner of Waco and Baylor University students Lynda Ashcraft Fran Griffin Pat Young among others in town for a weekend visit with families of the Ashcrafts.

Clifton Telephone Company Opens New Warehouse
Clifton Telephone Company began moving into its new 40 by 50 foot blue steel warehouse at the corner of West Live Onk and North Avenue. The facility will store trucks, poles, and heavy materials while the main building area is remodeled to upgrade equipment and convert party lines to fewer lines over two to three years. A contract for dial improvements and added line capacity is expected to be let May 1 with new dial equipment due in July.

Resignation of Hugh H. Trotter as acting manager of the Texas Milling Company in Clifton effective March 30. Jim Smith, previously assistant manager and auditor, assumes the vacated position. The Trotters bought 24 acres three miles northwest of Meridian on Highway 6, plan a home addition, and expect to move within a month.
