County residents volunteer for East Central Michigan Health Board
Four Clare and Harrison residents Dr. E. C. Sharlow Bernard Baumann Ruth Koch and Rose Lehner volunteered to represent Clare County on ECMHS board. They will attend a September 29 Midland meeting with plans for October 13 Harrison session and discuss rural health development aims and service gaps.

CMU Enrollment Reaches New Fall Record
Central Michigan University reports fall enrollment at 14,112, a nearly 10 percent increase from last fall. The rise includes more sophomores and graduate students, reflecting a larger student body at Mt. Pleasant campus.

Gas Taxes Fuel Clare County Road Costs and CMU Enrollment
Clare County car owners pay about 30 dollars a year to the Highway Trust Fund under current 4 cent gasoline taxes and tire taxes. The trust funds cover 90 percent of interstate construction with states funding 10 percent. 200,000 dollars went to the federal government in the past year. If Congress extends the program for six more years Clare County drivers would contribute about 1,201,000 dollars more. CMU enrollment shows strong gains with 13,800 anticipated and rising sophomore and graduate totals.

Township Officers To Meet Mrs Delmar Scott District Director
Mrs Delmar Scott director of the 10th District Michigan Township Association southern sector announced the first regional meeting for the Bay County four counties Bay Midland Gladwin and Arenac region at Monitor Township Hall on September 25 with State Tax Commission representatives to answer township problem questions A general workshop for township supervisors and officials will follow The district is divided into three groups Another meeting is set for October 9 at Ferris State College.

Library Board Elects Officers Harrison
New officers of the Clare County Library Board were elected at Mid Michigan Community College. Scott of Lake was chosen president for two years. Mrs. Kuno Hammerburg of Clare became vice president. Roy Dodge of Harrison was named secretary. Dodge also holds a separate five year Clare County Board appointment. The board accepted Charles Amble’s resignation after a five year presidency due to ill health. Amble had served since 1964. In other business, $23,150.77 in penal fines for Clare County libraries and two bordering counties were allocated by population.
