New hospital kitchen opens at Clare Osteopathic Hospital

The Clare Osteopathic Hospital drives forward its year long campaign to fund improvements with the opening of a new dietary department. The kitchen features state of the art equipment improving efficiency and sanitation. Exterior addition work is finished enhancing the community skyline and plans include new X ray equipment installation.

Clare City considers keeping garbage service with two bids

At a Monday night meeting two businessmen offered bids to run municipal trash pickup and landfill options. Roger Bielfuss proposed 29 500 yearly for residential and business service with a separate landfill contract. William Bauer bid 40 000 annually for similar service plus landfill, with a second option at 10 000 yearly for landfill access only. City manager Glen Cain had estimated 29 000 annually including landfill if the city runs its own truck fleet.

Clare County to receive federal funds for public works

Clare County will receive 10 740 of a 185 000 federal distribution to 15 Michigan units under the Emergency Employment Act. The funds, allocated by the county commissioners at their September meeting, aim to create jobs for the unemployed with priority to veterans and public assistance recipients.

Garfield Memorial Library Introduces New Look Exhibits

Clare residents can view a rotating art display by five local artists in the Garfield Memorial Library first exhibition period. Artists include Mrs. Prusak, Mrs. Reiberg, Mrs. Stanley, Mrs. Dreher and Leslie Osborne. Call 386 9370 to participate. Also featured are Cub Scout poster contest entries with a conservation theme and a colored photographic exhibit of Joanne Wilcox dancers by Pete Brown.

Bequest Funds Student Aid At Mid Michigan College

The first memorial be quest for student financial aid arrives at Mid Michigan Community College. Evelyn Rachel Loan Fund created by a $5,000 bequest from Hazel Rackel of Beaverton supports loans for students pursuing college education. Loans repayable within five years after graduation with preference to non smokers and teetotalers. Procedures for 1972 enrollment details are being prepared.
