Three Die in Farm Home Fire Near Freeland
Burton Thompson, 26, suffered third degree burns and remains in Midland hospital after an explosion destroyed his four room farm home near Freeland. Mrs Verna ElNiene Thompson 20, her two weeks old Harvey and Mrs Betty Jean Brand 18 of Midland died in the blaze. A second child was at grandparents. Thompson awoke to smoke saw an oil stove ablaze and it exploded, spreading flaming oil and igniting his pajamas.
