State tax estimate for 1921 exceeds 1920 levels
Lanning reports the 1921 state tax will total between 20 and 21 million dollars, up more than 3 million from 1920, with a 14 to 15 percent increase. The increase follows a state property valuation rise of about 500 million and a total tax rise just over 23 million above last year. The apportionment by counties reflects the new valuation. Industrial counties protested alleged discriminatory treatment, seeking horizontal cuts to valuations, which were not adopted.
