Clare high school student suffers motorcycle crash on McEwan

Larry Ray Hales, a Clare high school student, was unconscious after a head on collision with a northbound car driven by John Scheilhas on McEwan Street. He recovered enough to return to Clare Osteopathic Hospital with no broken bones and received visitors. Police keep the case open pending investigation.

Coleman Girl Dies In Accident

Betty J. Billington six of Coleman died in a September ninth auto crash in Isabella County. Born May third 1961 in Mt Pleasant she was the daughter of Jerry and (Mrs) Billington. Survivors include three brothers Gary Donald Ronald and sister Donna at home. Grandparents Allen Bullard Mt Pleasant and Ruby Crockett Coleman. Services were held Monday at O Laughlin Funeral Home Coleman with Rev Forrest Crum officiating and burial at Delwin Cemetery Isabella County.

Duval Begins Sixth Year as Western Square Dance Caller

Duval of Rosebush enters his sixth year as a Western Style square dance caller. He began in 1963 after persuasion by Beal City residents and formed a Farwell club following an Mt. Pleasant Fair exhibition. He started a Mt. Pleasant class in 1965 and added Shep herd clubs, with 178 couples graduated in five years. Lessons start Tuesday evenings at 8 in Farwell High School cafeteria. all are invited.

Point Clare Drive-in Fire Damages Establishment

Severe damage occurred Sunday at Point Clare Drive-in on Clare's east edge when cooking grease ignited on a stove. City firefighters contained the blaze as Police Chief Elly Tice, dining inside, aided by directing traffic away from the fire route.

Clare High Opens Pigskin Season at Gladwin Friday

Clare High School headlines the 1967 Pioneer football squad under Coach Gary Rayburn as they travel to Gladwin to face the Flying Gs in the season opener. The Pioneers boast 12 senior lettermen, added weight, and key players like Roger Kushmaul, Chris Busche, Dennis Jacco, and Dana White, while looking to leverage a strong defense and revamped offense in White uniforms. Elder Hobert Beavers Dies In Farm Accident

Elder Hobert Beavers pastor of the Farwell church and branch president of the Area BLDS was killed at 64 while operating a corn chopper in a field south of Farwell. State Police and Farwell Police investigated after the revolving mechanism caused the fatal incident.

Ram Truck Visits Area for Ram Day at MSU

The Michigan Sheep Breeders Association will send a Ram Truck into northern Michigan with registered rams gathered at a Ram Day at Michigan State University in East Lansing on September 20. A Ram Truck stop is planned for September 21 at Julius Schaffer farm in Clare from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for ram selections.

Recreation Board Formed for Clare Public Needs

A progress report announces the creation of an independent Clare Recreation Board approved by the City Commission and School Board after a Summer Recreation Study Committee. Farwell Plant Expansion Underway In Reynolds Division

Ground breaking ceremonies in Farwell marked the start of a fifty percent expansion for the Farwell Division plant of Hoover Ball and Bearing Reynolds Chemical Products Division. Frank W. Clare High magazine sales drive kicks off next week

Clare High students start annual magazine subscription sales to fund senior trips memorials and activities. The campaign urges residents to renew and contribute as funds support school programs. A planned 11 000 square foot addition to the Farwell plant will expand storage and offices and raise output. The current plant covers 22 000 square feet and employs 17 workers.
