Midland Man Critical After Farwell Centennial Parade Accident
A Midland man, 39 year old Charles E Braund, was seriously injured when a parade float backed into him during the Farwell Centennial Parade. He was taken to Clare Osteopathic Hospital and then to St Luke's in Saginaw ICU. Traffic across the region remained heavy with numerous accidents reported over the holiday weekend.

Clare Public Schools reopen amid overcrowding and revised schedules
All Clare Public Schools students return Thursday September 10 with elementary and most high school pupils starting at 9 00 a.m. and dismissed at 3 30 p.m. High school 8 a m sessions planned for those not using buses. Kindergarten to attend morning or afternoon sessions as assigned.

Clare schools outline deposits and supplies for new term
The district sets five dollar book deposits for all, ten dollars for band instruments, and five dollars for drafting tools with refunds at year end if items are kept in good condition. Elementary grades have no textbook deposit, and deposits are low compared to others. Schools may charge full replacement cost for loss or damage beyond deposits. Supplies include pencils paper crayons, with no mandatory items though students should come prepared. Milk and other items are not guaranteed free. milk options are offered with per semester milk credits.
