Farwell Public Hearing On US-10 Relocation Plan

Beach Dance At Crooked Lake Attracts Lake Area Youth

Prize-Winning Bedspread At State Fair Shines For Mrs Lower

Mrs Vesta Lower guest of her daughter family at the Detroit State Fair over the weekend. She earned first prize for a blue denim appliqued bedspread made from four inch squares with different designs. Prize money will go to the Brown Corners Church Women Missionary Association. Gary Thomas son of Glen and Mrs Thomas of Clare earned recognition in the 4 H State Show at Michigan State University Lansing last week. His hydroplane boat won an excellent blue ribbon and he is a member of a local 4 H club with Paul Nass as counselor.

Tzo Land Big Muskie Catch At Budd Lake

John Marotzke and wife Maxine landed a 16 pound 10 ounce muskie at Budd Lake Harrison. The 41 inch fish with a 17 inch girth was caught on an eight pound line and brought over the boat side with Maxine's assist before official weighing at Patch's Market Harrison.

Court Sets Level Of Bertha Lake

A Tuesday Circuit Court hearing in Harrison set Bertha Lake water level at 1098.2 feet above sea level. Prosecuting Attorney Jay Trucks argued the plan as 125 attendees watched Judge Robert Campbell affirm the figure to allow the board of supervisors to decide if the lake could be raised to expand from 24 to 47 acres, as it had been historically.
