Alpert E Munson longtime Harrison resident died Thursday August 21 after a long illness at age 71 years one month and seven days. Born July 14 1853 in New York he moved with his family to Genesee County Michigan at age seven. He married Delia Burtis in 1873 and later settled in Harrison in 1885. Survived by widow two children George W Munson and Mrs Bert Cleveland four grandchildren and one brother E I Munson. Funeral held at home with Rev BE G Clapp officiating and Maple Grove Cemetery interment.
John Freed died at 55 years in Clare County after lived in Indiana and Michigan. Born December 6 1868 in Stuben County Indiana he married Clara B Clink March 17 1889 and had three children two surviving Ethel Runsey and Anthony. Funeral was August 27 1924 at the Baptist church with burial in Cherry Grove cemetery. Distinct attendees listed from Pleasant Lake Ashley Mountpelier Coshen Maple Rapids and other relatives.
Doris Mater hosted a dinner and kitchen shower on August 20 for Marion Davy Loedwyk of Mt Pleasant. Mary Lister hosted a linen shower on August 27 for the bride Dorothy McNeill from Ann Arbor and Carolyn Choate of Ypsilanti, with out of town guests. Both events were enjoyed by all.

The Good Literature Club will hold its first meeting at Mrs. Stella Lampman’s home next Tuesday evening. Members should attend after vacation and be ready to share “Things Seen and Heard” during roll call. The chair man of the Program Committee will report outlines for the year and refreshments will follow social hour.

The Gladwin county fair resumes after a two year pause featuring races ball games aeroplane midway dancing and farm exhibits. The 1924 event runs Wednesday Thursday and Friday September 10 11 and 12 attracting a large crowd.

Mack, Mrs. Lamphere, Mrs. Madge Lamb, Mrs. Carrie Darling, Mrs. Emma Hoag, and Mrs. Pearl Clare Harrison. Officers elected were President Mrs. Julia M. Schaaf, Vice President Mrs. Pearl E. Clute, Secretary and Treasurer Mrs. Carrie Darling. Attys John Quinn and Ralph E Hughes spoke at the event.
