Three Injured In Auto Wrecks Last Sunday
Two crashes near Clare and Farwell left three people with injuries Sunday afternoon and evening. Cecil Abbott and Frank Ditsworth were involved near Bailey and Round lakes, with Wright and Davis also treated for lacerations. Mabel Kirkbride sustained a fractured leg in Farwell on US-10. State Police investigated both incidents.

He sustained a head wound, was treated at Clare Hospital, and released the same evening. he is recovering at home. Michigan will not close the deer season this fall despite wartime rumors. Conservation chief P. J. William Roland, longtime Greenwood township resident, died at Gladwin hospital from severe burns suffered Friday morning while clearing brush in the Gladwin oil field. An explosion followed lighting a brush pile, likely from escaping gas. He was 63, born October 16, 1878 in Keswick Iowa, married May 18 1908 to Loweesa Heitzleman, with three children and five grandchildren surviving. Funeral was at Murphy Funeral Home Harrison, burial Greenwood township cemetery.
