Junior High Teacher Added and Students Move to Clare Public School

A new Junior High student group from Andersonville with teacher Mrs. Ellen Zinser has been relocated to Clare Public School. Twenty students attend Junior High in the former driver training room at the upstairs west end. Driver training moved to the Pioneer room on the second floor to relieve overcrowding in four other downstairs rooms.

Al Bunting Hit By Auto On McEwan Street

Youngsters Plant Shrubs At Church

The Methodist Primary Department children held their annual planting party after school on Thursday. They planted three flowering almond shrubs two at the east church entrance and one at the parsonage. Games and group singing filled the afternoon, directed by assistant teacher Mrs Ronald Wilson. Teachers included superintendent Mrs Eugenerey and Mrs William Case, Mrs Fred Bell, and Mrs R B Kring. Refreshments were served by class mothers Mrs Basil Cole Mrs Chester Bell and Mrs Hollis Walton.

Nixon kicks off state tour at Tri-City airport

Mrs. Harold Schaeffer and her relatives met Vice President Nixon at Tri-City Airport as he began his Whistle Stop tour through Michigan Illinois and into California. Nixon greeted a convalescent spectator in a wheelchair and waved to a thirteen car motorcade before boarding a train at Saginaw and continuing to Pontiac Lapeer Imlay City and Flint.

Start Work On Watervliet Barking Mill

Watervliet begins construction of a barking mill at its concentration yard west of Clare. The 26 by 64 foot steel building will house the Wig machine and amenities for workers. operations manager John Hanson aims for December 16 startup. A second building, a 920 square foot office, will follow to replace the existing shed office.

Rotary Chronicle to Feature Clare Industries Sale

Clare Rotary Club plans the Rotary Chronicle for this year with a focus on Clare manufacturing and processing. More than 50 Rotarians will sell the issue from Friday noon to Saturday 6 pm with Frank LaGoe as editor and Jen nings Archambault as advertising manager. County 4-H Achievement Set Saturday

The Clare County 4-H Club Fall Achievement Day will be held Saturday evening October 27 at 8 pm in Harrison High School gymnasium. A short program will present certificates and awards for the summer 4-H program. Miss Dorig Kowalk, an International Farm Bureau Exchange delegate to India in 1955 and now an M A student, will speak on An IFYE in India. They're Glad They Were Arrested Here

Mr and Mrs Frank Wick of Northport were cited for safe highway use in Clare Salute to Safety. The Wicks two children and a small puppy were in the car when authorities arrested them between Mt Pleasant and Clare. They were escorted to Clare by Police Chief Bill Cook and state troopers where they were interviewed and received presents. A radio interview was broadcast from Northport to Mt Pleasant after tape recording was lost.

October 12 brought the Rhodes family together after 29 years. Walter and Roy Rhodes of Flint with Leota Green of Midland joined Gertie Gardiner in welcoming Hunie Rhodes and others to Harrison. They shared a dinner at the Surrey House and posed for group photos with Lee Sowles before returning to Gardiner's for the week.
