Funeral services for William J Jennings 77 who died Friday after a lingering illness were held Monday at the Methodist church with Rev. Stanford officiating. Burial followed in Cherry Grove. He was born October 8 1860 near Napanee Ontario and lived in Clare since 1919 where he served as alderman. He leaves his widow a daughter Emma Leo of Royal Oak a sister Mrs Converse and several nieces nephews and grandchildren. Six Injured In Weekend Car Crash At City Intersection
A serious collision occurred Sunday around 9:00 PM at the McEwan Street and Wheaton Avenue intersection. Ford driver Gerald Henning of Detroit and Hudson driver John Woodward of this city collided. Injured were Beatrice Foley Edna DeClute and Fay DeClute Vanderbilt residents along with Mr and Mrs Woodward. Both parties received multiple injuries and were treated at Clare County General Hospital and local offices before home recovery.

Retiring officers Paul Gibson and John Kemmis discussed plans for a new 40 by 100 foot grand stand on the west side of the county fair track. The city of Harrison would close the street, with potential west expansion for parking, easing US 27 traffic. A new entrance and night events such as stock parades rodeos and fireworks are planned to make next year’s fair the Biggest Little Fair in Michigan with more rodeos, races and stage shows.
