Hundreds attend the cemetery ceremonies for Walter A. Larman Clare's sole World War II sacrifice. The procession from the Legion rooms to St Cecilia church and Cherry Grove cemetery featured a firing squad and a flag presentation to his father. Fr Geo Flanagan delivered remarks urging unity and to honor the sacrifice beyond faith and creed.

Death of Francie Rath at six weeks old

Francie Rath, six weeks old, died October 17 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A Desormean after a brief illness. The funeral was at St. Cecelia church with Rev Flanagan officiating and burial in the church cemetery. The family and friends mourn her loss.

Farmers Get Final Wool Pool Checks

The Michigan State Farm Bureau began issuing final wool pool checks in early October, covering 3.6 million pounds from the 1920 pool. About 18,000 poolers will receive funds as Michigan completes the pool, with Iowa and Illinois not yet settled. Handling costs averaged 4.65 cents per pound for central warehouses and 3.24? cents for local yards, and the department sold much of the pool at the best current prices.

Good Literature Club Progress Marks Disarmament Appeal Support

At a meeting hosted by Mrs Stella Lampman the Good Literature Club voted to join national efforts urging disarmament through Secretary Hughes. The program featured piano solos by Miss Helen N Knox and violin pieces by Miss Eloy Struble, with readings on French thirteenth century literature and tales from Aucassin and Nicollette and Reynard the Fox. The next gathering will be November 1 at Mrs Lena Reading's home.

Herrick Church Fair Set for October 21 at Gleaner Hall

The Helping Hand society of Herrick church will host a church fair at Gleaner hall on October 21. Aprons fancy goods baked goods and candy will be sold. A sapper (supper) will be served. All are urged to attend.
