Friday October 18 a traffic accident south and east of Clare injured John H Doherty and left him with three fractured ribs and bruises. A sugar beet truck driven by Arthur Nester collided with Doherty’s car. Nester suffered an injured hand and minor bruises.

Kennedy named Region Two NLEA chair at Flint meeting
Supt H D Kennedy was elected Second Vice chairman of Region Two of the Michigan Education Association at its Flint convention October 12 13. He will act as Regional Conference Chairman in 1941. Word came Monday evening of the death of EHJ Allen at his Mancelona home. Services were held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the home with Rev. Albert Dawe officiating and Masonic rites. John Livingston Dies at Sheridan Home
John Livingston, longtime Clare county resident, died Sunday at his Sheridan township home. Born December 20 1859 in Newtownbarry Ireland he was 79 years old. He married Hattie Loomis in 1903 and is survived by wife five children a granddaughter a grandson two brothers and other relatives. Funeral services were held Thursday at Thurston Funeral Home with Rev James A Rogers officiating and burial in Cherry Grove cemetery.

Former Clare Man Dies at Cass City Friday Noon
Norman Lockwood formerly of Clare died at the home of Joseph Fulcher northeast of Cass City Friday noon after a stroke. He was born in 1876 in Hastings County Ontario and came to Michigan in 1888. He married Edna Upthegraph in 1895 and had three children Eunice Canon Germaine Lockwood and Gladys Hoge. He leaves four brothers two sisters and several relatives. Services were at Maypole Mennonite church Cass City with Rev Marion Green and later at Clare Baptist church. Interment in Cherry Grove cemetery.
