Michigan State Housing Authority receives the grant. project at Schoolcrest and Hemlock with 4 story mid rise and townhouse units. Developer is Frank Fowler of Van Koo Realty. Clare City Commission approves the plan.

Farwell Board sees two resignations and vacancies
Two Farwell Board of Education members Justin Blaine and Dennis Kelly resigned for new jobs. The board will appoint two replacements to serve until the next election in 1978, with applications due by October 17, 1977. Budget hearings are planned October 17 and October 28 at Lake and Lake George schools, with open houses for parents in the coming weeks. A burglary ring across Clare County led to four arrests and seizure of stolen goods, aided by MSU and Farwell police, with 16 suspected involved and warrants issued for three more.

Hunter Found After Long Night In Hamilton Township
Linda Flick a 30 year old Flint woman was located by Richard Cottrell of the CB Road Patrol in a swamp west of her initial loss area after a nightlong search. She had been hunting with Daryl Shephard and became separated near M 61 and Mostetler Road. Deputies SAR and road patrols scoured the area through the night and into morning until her rescue.

Five candidates including three incumbents filed for Clare City Commission by the October 10 deadline. Mayor Chris Smith and commissioners Bob Beck and Tom Johnson seek re election along with Nancy Gunnerson and former mayor Williard Koch. Serious crash leaves two injured on M-115 near Dover Road
On October 9 a two car head on collision on M-115 west of Dover Road left Jill Roller 34 of Manchester in critical condition at Saginaw Hospital after transfer from Clare Osteopathic Hospital. Driver Mark Feldkamp 20 of Manchester is in satisfactory condition at Clare Hospital. The other driver Virginia Hazard 41 of Cragswell was towing a trailer when she lost control crossing the highway and striking the Feldkamp car.

Life saving CPR classes offered during Fire Prevention Week
Fire Chief Gary McGregor reminds Clare residents of two free CPR workshops this Saturday at the fire hall. Oct 15 offers 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. sessions with no charge. Instruction covers choking responses and food stuck in the throat. Pete Brown of Gateway Lanes offers a free bowling lane to each participant who completes the three hour course.
