The Farwell area reports on district events including lodge visits in Bea verton and Gladwin, October birthday supper, and local family notes. Community updates list residents dining, visiting relatives, hospital stays, and fall birthday celebrations with neighbors across Clare and surrounding towns.
Graceland College Day is October 13 with Elder Jerry Wiley as guest speaker at 11 A.M. Zions League meets 6:30 P.M. Thursday then travels to Marion. Woman's Department meets October 14 at 7:30 P.M. to plan goals and hymn-book repair. Beaverton District Conference had twelve families represented. Hymn Festival is October 13 at 7:30 P.M. Special preaching services begin soon at Reorganized Church Farwell with D. Leon Curtis from Independence. Morning worship 11 A.M. and evening 7:30 P.M. Sundays. Topics on October 20 and 27 address Seek Ye The Lord Through Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Gifts of the Spirit, Stewardship, and Resurrection Testimony. All invited to hear gospel principles.
Mr and Mrs Joan Klassa of Dearborn visited over the weekend with sister Mrs Vern Funnell and family. Their son Lewis Funnell and Gene from St Louis joined. John Strand and son Richard of Ann Arbor were guests of Sidney and Mrs Hood. Gene Cashin family from Midland stayed with Kenneth Renner. The men hunted and Terry Jimmy and Kenneth each shot a deer. Friday visitors to Thomas Brooks included Robert Sye of Saginaw and Mr and Mrs Ralph Moore and Oakley Dague and friend of Sherman City.
The Farwell Future Homemakers of America held a formal installation in the school gym for forty new members. Each new member received a long stemmed red rose as she took her oath. Parents attended as guests and best wishes were sent to the girls.
Mrs Donald Smith hosted a teenagers party on October 5 as Linda Smith celebrated her 16th birthday. Guests enjoyed sandwiches chips birthday cake punch ice cream and candies while Linda received lovely gifts to remember the occasion.
Mrs. Alice Hirt marked her birthday on October 5 with a gathering at her home attended by sisters nieces and many relatives from Norwalk Ohio Traverse City Tawas Houghton Lake Midland Sanford Beaverton and Beale city area. Guests enjoyed cake and coffee as several offspring and grandchildren participated.
