Winterfield lad fatally shot in hunting tragedy
Vernon Dunn fourteen of Winterfield township died from a gun shot wound received when his 16 gauge shotgun struck an iron bridge edge and discharged as he stepped aside for a passing truck. Two companions, Robert Gable and Ernest Kennedy, were exonerated. Coroner Friz ruled accidental death and Sheriff Bates concurred in the finding. Funeral arrangements were handled by H L Dunbar of Marion.

Wm Ross aged 79 died October 1 at his Beaverton home from a heart attack. A Beaverton pioneer, he remained a US Bridge and Culvert salesman. He moved from Beaverton Canada to Clare County in 1879 and helped found Beaverton Michigan. Funeral Monday at 2 pm at his father Ronald Ross’s home officiated by Rev Hodgson with interment at Cherry Grove cemetery. He was uncle to Mrs Arthur Damoth of the city.
