Ram Truck to Stop in County October 18th
The ram truck project by the Michigan Purebred Sheep Breeders Association and Michigan State College Animal Husbandry Extension will stop at the county fair grounds on Monday October 18 featuring demonstrations and discussions. Purebred rams of common Michigan breeds will be shown with prices from 30 to 45 dollars for yearlings and as low as 15 dollars for older rams. Registration certificates accompany sales and breeding guarantees apply. The program includes a ram exchange to help sheepmen swap rams and financing assistance through Michigan Live Stock.

Bank Bandits Firefight Ends in Victims and Capture
In Midland a noon robbery at the Chemical State Bank left Jack Gracey killed and Tony Chebolores wounded after a chase. Dr. Frank Hardy fired from above the bank, wounding one bandit and later killing Gracey with a deer rifle. Henry Porter and bank officials were injured. Chebolores was captured fleeing toward Pere Marquette tracks.

Dr. C. W. DeLand, USDA district veterinarian, tested 325 cattle in 40 Clare County herds with 0 reactors and 6 suspects, and 175 cattle in 16 Isabella County herds with 13 reactors and 8 suspects. Infected cattle were in two herds. Indemnity pays $50 for purebred and $25 for grade cattle. Testing is voluntary but encouraged. DeLand plans another tour in late October and residents should inform their county agents.

Ace Parker Hurt In Auto Crash Near Roscommon
Ace Parker manager of Gul station suffered injuries in a one car crash five miles west of Roscommon on US 27. Parker awoke to find the car on the wrong side and skidded into an oak tree, breaking it. He was taken to Clare County General Hospital with a broken left collar bone a deep scalp wound and body bruises. Ed Boarst riding in the rear seat had knee injuries from the impact. The car was badly damaged.

Fifteen Scouts Attend College Football Game Trip
Fifteen members of Troop 125 accompanied by Scout Master Austin Bates Coach Leg Brown and Cub Master Paul Lowrey visited East Lansing to watch Michigan State College play Wayne University of Detroit. About 400 Scouts filled one stadium side with college cheerleaders leading the welcome. The Industrial School boys also attended. The Clare group picnicked in Lansing before returning.

Harrison Party Involved In Friday Night Car Crash
A Harrison group returning from Clare after visiting the Ideal Theatre crashed near Spikehorn curve ten miles north of Clare when their car side swiped a lumber truck. Russell Allen and Kenneth Ladd suffered serious injuries. Billy Burns and Leo Skinner had minor wounds. Junior Hughes escaped harm. his mother Mrs. Elmer Hughes endured shock and minor head bruises. Russell, 14, has a broken thigh and jaw injury. Kenneth may lose sight in both eyes temporarily. both youths are hospitalized in Mt. Pleasant and awaiting further care. Prosecutor Holbrook has not ordered an investigation.

The Brown Trout weighing 11 pounds 1 ounce, caught July 2 at Town Line Lake by Bed. Lessend er of Waterford, placed first in its class in the Detroit Free Press contest. The fish measured 30 inches long and 18 inches in girth and was caught on spinner and live minnow with witnesses Conservation officer Ed Gilson and Clare Wright. Funeral services will be held from Thurston and Son in Hoxie this Friday at two o'clock for Ole S. Larson aged 80 who died Tuesday night in Pontiac. Reverend A D Telder will officiate. Larson born in Norway came to Sheridan township Michigan 43 years ago then moved to Pontiac in 1922 due to ill health. His trades included shoemaking stone cutting masonry and farming. He is survived by his wife and children Martha Stoy Clare Mildred Martin Mary Braley George Ruth Burch Elsie Kaul Roy Harold and Joseph with one son Ole having preceded him in death.
